Model Villages
Following the aftermath of Pakistan’s worst floods in 2010, the most urgent need
for the rehabilitation process is in the building of homes and restoration of
livelihoods that have been destroyed.
Punjab Government in the leadership of chief minister Shahbaz Sharif took the
initiative to build 22 model villages with all basic facilities have been
constructed in flood hit areas of Punjab. He stated that the construction of the
villages would bring new culture in these areas.

Epidemic Prevention Program - Dengue Fever - 2011
To prevent & control an outbreak of a disease that spreads more quickly and more
extensively among people, PDMA Punjab has started a comprehensive program called
Epidemic Prevention Program. In this program informed decisions and preventive
measures will be taken to prevent outbreak of a disease. In 2011 there was an
outbreak of ‘Dengue fever’ in Pakistan including Punjab and especially in the
city of Lahore. Chief Minister Punjab took prompt measures to control it.

Floods/Monsoon 2011 - Punjab
PDMA continues to emphasise upon the contingency planning process as a
preparedness measure for response to natural hazards. Following catastrophic
floods in 2010, this plan focuses on 2011 monsoon
hazards to identify and analyze related risks for not just their humanitarian
impacts but also the associated adverse affects on private and public
infrastructure, and to define roles and responsibilities of diverse stakeholders
for preparedness and response. The document also provides timely planning inputs
for undertaking similar exercises down the implementation chain i.e. districts,

Floods/Monsoon 2011 - Sindh
Punjab Government and PDMA, Punjab provided maximum support in the relief
activities during the heavy monsoon rains and flash floods in the province of
Sindh.

Tornado in Sialkot Pakistan 2011
SIALKOT, As many as six persons were reportedly killed and the dozens of the
local villagers injured seriously as a high intensity black tornado storm badly
ruined three villages Machchraala, Chakraala and Buhadarpura near Head Marala,
Sialkot tehsil, falling the electoral constituency (NA 111, Bajwat-Sialkot).
Immediate action has been taken by PDMA Punjab for the relief of affected

Watan Cards
After the relief phase
of floods 2010, the Government of Punjab started its efforts for the
rehabilitation of infra structures and damages. For household damages, Punjab
Government launched its Watan Cards Project through which cash grant of Rs.
20,000 was given to every affected person living in flood area in the first
phase called as Phase I of this project. A total of 608,252 beneficiaries have
been issued Watan Cards in this phase.

Flood 2010 Damage/Rehabilitation and information portal
The 2010 Pakistan floods began in late July 2010, resulting from heavy monsoon
rains in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan regions of
Pakistan and affected the Indus River basin. Approximately one-fifth of
Pakistan's total land area was underwater, approximately 796,095 square
