On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, Director General PDMA Umar Abbas Mela visited Jhelum district and made a detailed review of monsoon rains, possible flood situation and emergency arrangements. During the visit, Deputy Commissioner and officers of concerned departments briefed DG PDMA on flood response plan, emergency preparations, rescue measures and district arrangements at DC office Jhelum. DG PDMA Umar Abbas Mela inspected various disposal stations, Nala Gahan, Nala Binhan adjacent to sensitive areas, flood protection projects, protective embankments and dams. He also reviewed in detail the arrangements related to Mangala Dam, preparation of relief camp, available facilities, rescue arrangements, urban flooding, drainage, desalting and other safety measures. On this occasion, DGPDMA directed that all resources, machinery and manpower should be kept ready at all times to deal with possible emergency situations.
