Chief Secretary,Punjab breifed the chair that a series of meetings of the Cabinet Comiittee on Floods were with all concerned agencies/departments in order to evaluate and undertake prepartory arrangements for flood season-2017.He underlined that all the concerned provincial departments,representatives of federal agencies including FFC,MET,PCW,Pak Army,SUPARCO,NHA etc.NHA etc and Divisional Commissioners/Deputy Commissioners/Deputy Commissioners have been inivited to this august forum,so that the chair could be apprised about the flood mitigation and response plans formulated by the key stakeholders.He outlined that it was imperative that all the concerned departments and the district administrations undertake necessary arrangements/flood preparedness before on-set of the flood season.He averred that sufficient flood resuce and relief equipment have been provided to all DDMAs including new inflatable rubber boats as per indicative rationalized schedule ny NDMA.He further informed as per director of Chief Minister,Punjab "Readiness Certificates" of flood rescue and relief equipment had been obtained from all 36 Deputy Commissioners (DDMAs) as well as Health, C&W,Irrigation,LG&CD and HUD &PHE Departments.
DG PDMA,briefed the house about preparedness level of PDMA and districts and that adequate rescue and relief equipment have been provided to districts as per rationalized demand which includes:Boats:764,OBM:764, Tents :38,804,De-watering Sets: 1276,Life Jacket :10,273,Life Ring: 3,245 etc.He further also briefed that following arrangements have been made for smooth functioning of flood season 2017,mainly
- Monthly DDMAs Meeting
- Inspection of flood proection bunds etc.with concerned departments
- Constitution of District Inspection Committees
- Readiness Certificates
- Rationalized Demand of flood fighting equipment
- Full Dress Mock Exercise (May and June)
