On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Director General PDMA Omar Abbas Mela visited Narowal and reviewed in detail the arrangements made to deal with monsoon rains and possible flood situation. During the visit, a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority was held under the chairmanship of DGPDMA at the Deputy Commissioner Office Narowal, in which officers of the relevant departments gave a detailed briefing regarding the flood response plan, emergency arrangements and inter-departmental coordination. DG PDMA also inspected the emergency camps established by Rescue 1122, Irrigation Department and Civil Defense, where he reviewed the availability and preparedness of rescue equipment, boats, life jackets and relief materials. Umar Abbas Mela directed that continuous monitoring of water flow in the Ravi River and other rivers be continued so that any possible flood situation can be dealt with in a timely manner. He reiterated the resolve that the protection of life and property of the public is the top priority of the Punjab government and all the relevant institutions are fully mobilized for this purpose.
