Director General PDMA Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa visited Dera Ghazi Khan and chaired a high-level meeting at the Commissioner’s Office along with Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Division Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry. The meeting reviewed the prevailing flood situation, urban flooding, possible hill torrents, anticipated flooding in the Indus and Chenab rivers, and preparedness measures for the monsoon season. The meeting was briefed on ongoing flood protection works, including the Chandar Bhan Flood Bund near Alipur and Khan Wah Bund. DG PDMA directed that the early warning system for hill torrents be modernized and integrated with satellite technology to ensure timely alerts and minimize loss of life and property. DG Saif Anwar Jappa said PDMA and all relevant departments were fully prepared to deal with any emergency during the monsoon season. He emphasized continuous monitoring of vulnerable areas, availability of machinery, rescue arrangements, effective coordination, and timely evacuation where required.
